Position Description
Provides leadership and administration within a designated area(s) of a college or school, in accordance with established guidelines, university policy and/or governmental regulations.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Provides academic leadership in strategic planning activities which formulate, implement, and evaluate goals and objectives of the Undergraduate Programs
  • Assumes responsibility for the coordination of the Undergraduate Programs
  • Acts as a representative and advocate for the Undergraduate Program within the GGHSON, the institution, and the community
  • In collaboration with the Dean, Associate Deans, faculty and staff, directs resource utilization for the Undergraduate Program
  • Provides leadership in development of affiliation contracts needed for the Undergraduate Program
  • Collaborates with undergraduate nursing faculty in developing class and clinical schedules, including other activities, which promote the effective maintenance and operation of the program
  • Coordinates with Instructional Technology personnel for support of program web-based curriculum delivery
  • Maintains the community network critical to building and preserving clinical sites for undergraduate student experience
  • Proposes and informs faculty regarding the development of undergraduate Accelerated BSN nursing curricula
  • Supervises and conducts in the evaluation of faculty and staff in program activities
  • Directs the Office of Student Affairs for the Undergraduate Program including orientation, admissions, retention and progression
  • Participates in the reporting for accreditation and annual reports of the Undergraduate Program
  • Supervises implementation of NCLEX-RN review process
  • Participates in program, school, and university committees and other activities associated with professional status
  • Maintains membership and participates in the activities of professional associations
  • Shares professional expertise at the regional, state, national, and international level
  • Carries an appropriate faculty teaching load reduced to accommodate administrative responsibilities
  • Displays a scholarly orientation to the assumption of responsibilities of a university faculty member: utilizes teaching-learning principles appropriately; provides leadership to colleagues in teaching; serves as a knowledgeable resource person to colleagues, students, and community; contributes to the generation of new knowledge in nursing and nursing education

Required Qualifications
  • DNP or Ph.D. in related field
  • Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas or compact state recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing
  • Experience in scholarly activities such as publications/presentations or advanced nursing practice
  • Two (2) years educational administrative experience in a nationally accredited higher education degree program
