Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Maintain receiving, warehousing and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures
  • Complies with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements and enforces adherence to requirements
  • Completes warehouse/delivery requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; following up on work results
  • Maintains physical condition of warehouse by inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement

Logistics Management

  • Ensures that the equipment and delivery trucks used have the ability to provide service for the customer at an acceptable standard
  • Coordinates with personnel to ensure that service to the customer meets an acceptable standard and generates positive feedback

Operational Strategizing

  • Plays a key role in the overall operational policy
  • Formulates strategies on how to make an optimum use of the resources of the organization

Safety Management

  • Assures compliance with the Safety and Loss Control Program
  • Work in cooperation with Safety director and GMS Risk Management representatives in the investigation, analysis of potential hazards to enforce methods and reduce losses of claims


  • Some college, degree preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years dispatch or related work experience
  • Ability to quickly learn and utilize new technology
